Kibiwot gives Kenya Fourth Medal At Paris Olympics

PARIS, France, Aug 8 – Kenya racked-up her fourth medal at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games following Abraham Kibiwot’s bronze in the men’s 3000m steeplechase on Wednesday at the Stade de France.

Kibowot timed a season’s best of 8:06.47 behind Kenneth Rooks who won the surprise medal for USA after bagging silver in a personal best time of 8:06.41 while Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco successfully defended her gold medal in 8:06.05 also in a season’s best.

Speaking after the race, Kibiwot, who dedicated his first ever Olympic medal to his six days old daughter Angle Kyla Chemutai, was optimistic that the golden glory will return to Kenya in the near future.

“We hoped this would be a race for Kenya, but I was number three. At the next few Olympics and world championships the steeplechase glory will return to Kenya,” the Commonwealth Games champion stated.
