Mary Moraa contented with Bronze at Paris Olympics

PARIS, France, Aug 5 – Making her second appearance at the Summer Olympic Games, world champion Mary Moraa settled for bronze in the women’s 800m final held Monday night at the Stade de France.

Moraa was the only Kenyan in the final and had to battle it out with on-form Briton, Keely Hodgkinson who won gold in 1:56.72 ahead of Ethiopian Tsige Duguma who settled for bronze in 1:57.15.

Moraa, who timed 1:57.42 said she was running with an injury and was lucky to even get a medal.

“I am happy for everything and all my teammates and competitors, I am grateful to be a bronze medallist at the Olympics because in 2021 (Olympics Games Tokyo 2020) I was entered into the same race, but reached semifinal, now I got a bronze. I am happy with the performance,” the commonwealth Games champion said.
